"John" Sung Jin Lee


SPECIALTY AREA: Korean Equity, Bond and Derivatives Markets, Structured Finance and Asian Hedge Fund Development

John SJ Lee has almost 20 years of investment banking experience. As fund manager of JC Invest Inc., in South Korea, he has developed a hedge fund using system trading models since 2002 applicable to Korea’s equity futures and marketed various hedge funds to Asian investors. Prior to his current role, Mr. Lee spent four years as Branch Manager of Credit Suisse First Boston (“CSFB”), Seoul and Country Head of Investment Banking Group at CSFB in Korea where he mainly helped the Korean Government, leading banks and Corporate entities to raise funds from overseas financial markets and provided various structured financial products for Korean institutions. Before moving to CSFB Korea, he spent two years with the Financial Engineering Group of CSFB Hong Kong in charge of risk management and structured financial products and three years in the Fixed Income Division of CSFB Hong Kong.

Earlier, he worked at Korea First Bank, managing foreign currency portfolios and arranging syndicated loans and project finance. He also worked at Daishin Securities and Bank of America’s Seoul Branch. In 2003, he was Visiting Professor at Hanyang University in Korea in International Finance. Mr. Lee earned an MBA from the Anderson School of Management at UCLA and a BA from Korea University in English and Business Administration.
